When no one else could help: removing an owl from a car grille

Heads up: these job stories may include photos of real pests and wildlife. Not for sensitive viewers.

Owl lodged in the front grille of a dark SUV after a vehicle strike

A customer returned from a road trip to find that an owl had struck his car along the way and was still lodged in the front grille.

He did the right things. He first called the Humane Society, which handles animals on the road but couldn't help with one still caught in a vehicle. He then called Washington Fish & Wildlife, who advised him to place it in his household garbage. But his garbage bin was gone, and he had no way to deal with it himself.

That's when he called us. We came out, carefully removed the owl from the grille and disposed of it properly, so he didn't have to handle it.

Owls often hunt low over roadsides at dusk and night, which unfortunately puts them in the path of traffic. If you're ever in a similar spot with an animal you can't or don't want to handle, call or text Gavin. We'll take care of it with respect.
